Situma Backs Junior Stars To Beat Uganda In Cecafa Championship Final
Former Kenya international James Situma has called on the Junior Stars to maintain their tactical discipline when they face Uganda in the final on Friday at the Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium – Kisumu.
Speaking to PoliticalPulseChat on Thursday, Situma said Uganda’s physical threat should be a worry for the Stars, but insisted they have what it takes to keep their rivals at bay.
“The team is playing very good football and everyone is enjoying it, but they have to be wary of the physicality of the Ugandans. I believe they are well prepared for it. It is a final they have to capitalize on every goal-scoring opportunity. Sometimes finals don’t present so many chances so you have to be clinical if you want to win,” said Situma.

The former Tusker FC captain is impressed with the way the team has performed in the tournament, keeping a 100 percent record, and believes it is all but passion and dedication from both the players and the technical bench.
“They are playing for the country and that is every player’s dream. They have given their best which is a good team for the country and fans. It is critical to know that the opponents have been watching too, since it is a tournament played within the same locality and a short span. They therefore know our (Kenya’) strengths and weaknesses, so the coach has to plan well,” added Situma.
The former Sofapaka captain has also underscored the importance of enthusiastic fans in winning a home championship.
“The fans have been very impressive in their turnout so far, they have really supported the team and if that continues on Friday I’m sure it will play a major role in winning the competition,” Situma noted.
