Amina Mohamed, previously serving as the Sports Cabinet Secretary, has been designated as a board member of the Interpeace Governing Board, which stands as the top authority in the Interpeace organization.

Interpeace is a global entity focused on offering resolutions to confront conflict within nations prone to violence.

The organization possesses more than 27 years of extensive operational expertise across various continents such as Africa, the Middle East, Asia, Europe, and Latin America.

According to a statement from the Amina Live Foundation, the former CS gained a unanimous vote from fellow board members due to her extensive diplomatic background.

“We are delighted to announce that Ambassador Amina Mohamed has been unanimously admitted to the Interpeace Governing Board,” the statement read in part.

“Amina’s extensive experience in diplomacy and development will be a valuable asset to the board as we work to promote peace and security around the world.”

“Ambassador Amina Mohamed brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Interpeace Governing Board. We are confident that her leadership will help us advance our mission of building lasting peace in conflict-affected regions.”

In November 2022, Amina was appointed to lead a 5-member commonwealth observer mission to Dominica for its general election.

Other former Cabinet Secretaries have equally set precedence in the international scene by landing international roles.

On the other hand, former Tourism CS Najib Balala was appointed as the new vice-president of Fauna & Flora International – a United Kingdom-based charity organization.
