Kenyans Intervene After Man Jumps From Juja Overpass Onto Thika Road
A 25-year-old male suffered severe injuries when he tried to take his own life by leaping from the Juja Overpass onto the bustling Thika Superhighway on Tuesday evening.
In an interview with PoliticalPulseChat, Phyllis Kanina, the Officer Commanding Police Division (OCPD) in Juja, verified that the individual entered the overpass approximately at 11:00 pm while multiple events were ongoing nearby.
A few moments later, he found himself standing on the barrier and leaped from the bridge onto the crowded freeway below.
The event startled the nearby spectators as they found it unbelievable that he was trying to take his own life.
Motorcycle taxi drivers nearby quickly arrived at the location and moved him to the side of the road to save him from approaching vehicles.
Afterward, they reached out to the Station’s Officer in Command and the OCPD Kanina, who then sent a team to the location.
Law enforcement officers conducted a thorough search and recorded details of the area while launching inquiries to determine the reason behind the attempted suicide.

Initial inquiries, as per OCPD Kanina, indicated that the individual, residing by himself, possessed a hotel that had been closed recently for reasons that are yet undisclosed.
“It appears he was going through financial difficulties,” Kanina stated.
She additionally verified that the young man had been moved to a Thika hospital, where he is presently undergoing medical care.
The occurrence highlights the mental struggles experienced by young people as they navigate through a challenging economic climate.
