Kioni Issues Stern Warning to Maina Njenga Over Alleged Misuse of President Uhuru’s Name
Thursday, Jeremiah Kioni, the secretary general of Jubilee, issued a stern warning to politicians who host events in his or her honor in the name of former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Kioni clarified at a press conference devoted to the National Dialogue Committee report that the party has 32 constitutionally registered executives who maintained close ties with Uhuru and that those who referenced the former president’s name in meetings did not belong to his inner circle.
“There are people here who are planning to hold meetings in Mt. Kenya. They should stop involving him. Continue with your plans, but do not carry his name in your meeting,” Kioni stated.
However, he refrained from divulging whether he had attempted to caution Njenga or whether Jubilee intended to implement resolute measures against the contentious politician.
Kioni criticized the recommendations in the bipartisan discussions report published by the National Dialogue Committee, stating that they failed to address the urgent needs of Kenyans.
His displeasure stemmed from the committee’s omission of the expense of living in favor of examining seemingly insignificant matters, including the establishment of the offices of the Prime Minister and Opposition leader.
“it is very, very immoral for us to think that we can start creating offices for people, yet others died while rallying for the cost of living,” Kioni stated and concurred with Raila on the need to hold a referendum and let Kenyans seal the fate of the report.
One week prior, Jubilee’s Deputy Organising Secretary, Pauline Njoroge, also criticized Maina Njenga for her claim that President Uhuru Kenyatta intended to participate in a December 31 Mt. Kenya tour.
“I have been trying to understand why Maina Njenga keeps lying that Uhuru Kenyatta will attend his event on December 31 to pass the Muthigi (Kikutu leadership mantle) to him,” Njoroge claimed.
She elaborated that Uhuru Kenyatta has no intention of attending the event and has not been in contact with its organizers.
“Despite numerous calls from various quarters to Maina to stop this narrative as it’s not true, he has persisted. This brings us to the question, what is his motive it’s clearly not a genuine one.”

Njoroge, like his superior, recommended that Maina Njenga proceed with his event without tampering with Uhuru’s reputation.
Maina Njenga asserted in October of this year that his event would be attended by prominent figures from the business community, Mt Kenya elders, members of the clergy, local legislators, and leaders from other regions.
He further stated that Uhuru Kenyatta, who is no longer in office, would be among the leaders who devise a course of action for the inhabitants of the region abundant in votes.
“We are talking to Uhuru as we speak. The date and time of the event will be announced soon. We have roughly one and half months, and by the end of the year, everything will be okay,” Maina Njenga claimed.
Additionally, on Tuesday, November 14, he issued a warning to the trespassers of Uhuru’s Northlands Farm in Ruiru, Kiambu County, that the stolen sheep must be returned by December 31, 2023.
Upon his reappearance on Sunday, November 19, Uhuru addressed the allegations at a church fundraiser in Mwingi, Kitui, but instead directed his attention toward trolling President William Ruto’s administration. In the company of Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, the chief of state expressed regret that Ruto and his allies were scapegoating him for their shortcomings.
“I am no longer scared. We have been threatened and told a lot of things. Each time someone fails in their mandate, they blame the previous government. I am used to the blame, and life continues,” Uhuru stated.
“I’m not a conman. I always tell people I am an Azimio member, and that is where I belong. My stand has not changed. You should be a politician with a stand who can always be trusted,” he added.
