Four more suspects arrested in Sh94.9m Quickmart heist
Four additional suspects in connection with the Sh94.9 million Quickmart Supermarket robbery that occurred on November 6 have been apprehended by the police.
On Saturday, law enforcement officials announced that the arrest was a result of an exhaustive examination of forensic evidence.
The four individuals apprehended, as reported by the police, are all personnel of the security and courier firm.
“Detectives pursuing suspects in the November 6 thievery of over Sh94.9 million while on transit by Wells Fargo staffers have today arrested four more suspected accomplices, all employees of the courier and security company,” police said.
The four suspects will remain in detention for the remainder of the weekend, according to the police.
They further stated that it is believed that the four suspects conspired with the two primary suspects, who remain unapprehended: Daniel Mugetha and Anthony Nduiki.
“Today’s arrest makes eight the total number of suspects so far nabbed in the daring heist after four others were netted days ago and over Sh9 million recovered in a jerrycan at a house in Roysambu,” police said.
The police stated that ongoing investigations are being conducted to locate the remaining suspects.
As of Monday, the suspects remain in custody at the Capitol Hill Police Station pending their arraignment in the Milimani Law Courts.
The police initiated a pursuit for two guards (Daniel Mugetha and Anthony Nduiki) who were suspected of evading the Sh94.9 million that was en route to a Nairobi bank.
The funds were en route to a bank in the Central Business District from a security firm facility in the Industrial Area when the incident occurred around 6 a.m. on November 6.

Two passengers from the company’s vehicle had arrived on time at the vault but departed without being accompanied by law enforcement.
According to the police, the escort realized the vehicle carrying the cash was absent mere minutes after the vehicle had departed with the cash.
The aforementioned automobile was discovered abandoned in the Dafam region South C, adjacent to the southern bypass, with neither the suspects nor the cash absent.
Senior officers on the scene determined that the two individuals had vanished in a waiting vehicle.
The incident was new and appeared to be an inside operation, according to the police.
Officers assigned to accompany the canter implicated in the theft were interrogated in the course of the investigation into the occurrence.
On November 11, the initial four suspects were apprehended, and in Nairobi, an estimated Sh9.1 million of the Sh94.9 million stolen from Quickmart was reclaimed.
The perpetrators were apprehended in Rongai, Kayole, and Thika Road, according to police, during an operation on Saturday.
In Rongai, a getaway vehicle that the suspects utilized to flee with the plunder was discovered.
It was detected by surveillance cameras installed along the highways that connected South Carolina to Karen.
Initially apprehended in Rongai, the suspect who was recognized as the proprietor of the vehicle utilized in the heist’s escape route was extradited to Njiru, Kayole, where two additional suspects were apprehended.
Police say the two were discovered attempting to alter the vehicle to conceal its identity.
Subsequently, the suspects once more directed law enforcement to Kasarani, where a fourth suspect was apprehensive at his rented dwelling.
Previously, the police had discovered an empty currency box in a Karen market.
It is hypothesized that the currency was exchanged among the suspects there several hours after the theft.
