Babu Owino Offers Nuru Okanga Full Secondary Scholarship
Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has extended an offer to support the academic endeavors of Nuru Okanga, his counterpart from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
After obtaining his Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) results, Okanga will be exempt from the financial obligation of paying his secondary school fees, as he has made a solemn commitment to settle the entire amount.
“Congratulations Nuru Okanga for passing the KCPE Exams with flying colours. I will give you a scholarship to further your secondary school Education,” Babu Owino commented.
However, neither Okanga’s KCPE results nor whether the Member of Parliament communicated with the ODM fanatic who took examinations at Mumias Primary School in Kakamega were disclosed.
Eugene Wamalwa, the leader of the DAP-K and former defense cabinet secretary, was among the politicians who congratulated Okanga alongside Babu.
“Congratulations, my friend Nuru Okanga for passing your KCPE exams with flying colors! We are proud of you and are the People of Western, Kakamega County, Matungu Constituency, Kholera Ward!
“Yours is an inspiring story of never being late to validate your dreams,” Wamlawa commented on his social media page, X.

A few minutes following the release of the 2023 KCPE results, rumors that Okanga had earned a total of 401 points began to circulate on social media.
However, the ODM enthusiast clarified that the reports and the tagged index number were fraudulent and deceptive.
“That index number does not belong to me. I am still trying to get my results because the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has yet to release my results,” Okanga told PoliticalPulseChat.
On this year’s final KCPE examinations before the country transitioned to a competency-based curriculum, the best candidate achieved an impressive 428 out of 500 points.
Nonetheless, 9,000 candidates were excluded from the most recent examinations, compelling Education CS Ezekiel Machogu to schedule an additional examination for them in January 2024.
Concerns were also expressed by the Ministry of Education regarding the threefold increase in the proportion of applicants achieving scores below 99 on this year’s examinations in comparison to 2022.
