Education PS Belio Kipsang Announces Schools to Reopen on January 8

Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang on Thursday revealed that schools countrywide will be reopened on January 8, 2024.

Speaking during the release of the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) results, Kipsang stated that this will mark the first time that learners are going to study for 3 consecutive terms with three breaks in between.

โ€œWe are opening our schools on the 8th of January for the new year,โ€ stated PS Kipsang.

This marks the first time the school calendar system is reverting to normal following the Coronavirus disruption.

According to the Principal Secretary, students will proceed on a three-day half-term break from February 29 to March 3, 2024, before closing the first term.

After this, they will then break for a three-week holiday from April 8 to April 26.

The longest term in the school calendar will run for 14 weeks as it begins on April 29, 2024, until August 2, 2024.

    Learners will, however, be given a 3-day mid-term break from June 20, 2024, until June 23, 2024.

The final term will commence on August 26, 2024, until October 25, 2024.

Following this, the learners will break for a long holiday from October 28, 2024, till January 3, 2025.

Students in technical training institutes are also expected to open school on January 8, 2024.
