Tragic Twist: KCSE Teacher Fatally Struck by Helicopter Blades in Garissa
A teacher was fatally impacted by helicopter blades in Masalani, Ijara, Garissa County, on Tuesday.
The teacher was reportedly supervising the ongoing Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations, as stated by EALA representative Falhada Iman.
The mishap transpired as the invigilator had just returned from the deputy county commissioner’s office with the day’s examination papers.
According to Nation publication source Solomon Chesuti, Garissa County Commissioner, the educator was near the departing helicopter. Following that, the propellers struck him.
This incident occurred within a day of two additional helicopter catastrophes that occurred in the adjacent Wajir County. On Monday around noon, the initial incident transpired when a helicopter transporting Abey Jimaale, an Arabajahan MCA, collided with the Wajir Airport runway during takeoff.

The MCA and two pilots on board, according to the police, were hurried with injuries to Wajir County Referral Hospital, where they were treated and referred to Nairobi for additional care while in stable condition.
Damage to the aircraft was extensive.
During takeoff late in the afternoon, a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) helicopter was involved in a collision. Feast items were being delivered by helicopter to families impacted by the flooding in Buna Town, Wajir North.
Abdia Manya, coordinator of the Wajir County Red Cross, stated that several individuals, including instructors and pilots, were transported to the Buna Sub-county Hospital with injuries.
