Olunga grabs brace as Harambee Stars run riot against Seychelles

Harambee Stars made light work of minnows Seychelles after their 5-0 victory on Monday in the 2026 World Cup qualifier match at the Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.

The Engin Firat-coached side put their opening match 2-1 loss to Gabon behind their back to scalp Seychelles considered the smallest country in Africa.

Captain Michael Olunga led by example as he scored a quick-fire brace inside the opening 10 minutes, setting the tone for the mauling of their rivals.

Masud Juma found the net just before halftime to consolidate a 3-0 halftime lead.

After the break, Rooney Onyango entered the scoresheet as his 62nd-minute goal extended Kenya’s advantage.

Substitute Benson Omalla sealed the emphatic win with a fifth goal of the night and his first for the team in the 73rd minute.

Kenya now rises to position three in group ‘F’, amassing three crucial points in their quest for the 2026 World Cup qualification slot that will be hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

Firat made two changes to the team that lost against Gabon.

The rest of the squad remained unchanged, with Anthony Akumu and Richard Odada forming the midfield partnership while Masud Juma and Michael Olunga led the goal hunt.

Dennis Ngโ€™angโ€™a partnered Johnstone Omurwa at the heart of the defense, while Rooney Onyango kept his place in the starting lineup for a third straight match
