Senator Cherargei Urges Ruto to Deal with Murkomen: Claims He’s More Controversial Than Kuria

Senator Samson Cherargei of Nandi has urged President William Ruto to take action regarding the recommendations of Transport and Roads Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen and his counterpart in Public Works, Moses Kuria.

Cherargei stated in a social media post that Murkomen is worse than Kuria, with the distinction being that Kuria vents his frustrations on social media while Murkomen disparages individuals in public.

“CS Moses Kuria is a national embarrassment that doesn’t care about respecting anyone including the appointing authority plus institutions such as Senate but he is not alone, he is in the good company of CS Murkomen who insults, belittles anyone and everyone, but Kuria only tweets but Murkomen is worse. He takes the mic and bullies, insults, and demeans the people and elected leaders even at funerals! The appointing authority must reign in on these rogue cabinet Secretaries,” Cherargei fired.

His views were shared by senators who, on Wednesday, advocated for CS Kuria’s dismissal due to his derogatory social media posts, which they claimed reflected poorly on the Senate.

A dispute arose between Cherargei and Murkomen a week ago in Nandi County during the interment of the son of Chesumei MP Paul Biego Polo over tendering.

Cherargei demanded at the funeral that Murkomen award a contract to one of the Nandi county contractors for the construction of a road in the area, arguing that Nandi residents should take precedence over visitors.

Murkomen, in response, expressed disapproval of the Senator’s remarks and accused him of endorsing tribalism by supporting a local contractor instead of the successful bidders.

Murkomen stated that the nation is fortunate that President William Ruto lacks the intelligence of Cherargei.

Additionally, the CS stated that he does not participate in the tender awarding process, but cautioned that any Kenyan who is legally qualified to labor in the country may do so.
