Kenyan Bishop Scams Millions from US Donors for Children’s Home
A donor hailing from the United States has petitioned the Kenyan justice system for assistance in reclaiming a children’s home and school that a bishop based in Naivasha deceived her of.
A year after establishing a nonprofit organization in 2016, Sherri Gonzales traveled to Kenya to establish an educational facility for disadvantaged and vulnerable children.
She encountered a bishop serving at Oasis Grace in Naivasha during her time in Kenya; he promised to assist her in establishing the school.
The establishment of the Sherri’s Education Centre in Karagita, Naivasha was motivated by the desire to ensure that vulnerable adolescents attend school during this time.
“I hired Abiud Masinde as a director but later realized that he was sending me forged documents to show that I owned the school,” she explained noting that a later document search revealed that the bishop had registered the property under his name.
As the center began accepting students, Sherri stated in a video for the press that she consistently provided the bishop with funds to operate the establishment.

Since 2020, when she realized that she had been duped and that the children’s home had been registered with the bishop, Sherri has been attempting to regain access to her previous school.
“I have hired two attorneys since and one switched sides and started working for him,” she regretted adding that she travelled from the United States to Naivasha Police Station to follow up on the matter but nothing was done ever since.
Sherri desires that justice be served so that she may regain matriculation at her alma mater, thereby continuing to assist underprivileged children across the nation.
“He was receiving money and other charitable donations from US donors through my organization,” she explained how unsuspecting American citizens were duped by the bishop.
Former National Football League (NFL) player and her son, Genos Derwin Williams, were among the largest contributors in helping to raise millions for the endeavor.
“I do not have any emotions for the Bishop, I am more angry that he has been allowed to get away with the act. All the money he has received from many people and kept to himself,” she stated.
“I was a blessing to help and he took it from the children, community, and the future.”
