Kenyan Journalists Accuse UK Embassy of Racial Mistreatment During Royal Visit: “Food Leftovers, Separate Buses”
Kenyan journalists have lodged grievances alleging racial mistreatment and segregation throughout the four-day sojourn of King Charles III in the nation.
The journalists, led by Mwangi Maina, an African report writer, lodged complaints that the entire journey was tinged with racial connotations.
According to Mwangi, the segregation began with the provision of stale sandwiches and remnants and continued through transportation.
“Journalists have complained of being segregated from their British counterparts during pool transportation and not receiving proper meals, despite Kenyan taxpayers partly funding this high-level visit,” Mwangi stated.
On the eve of the King’s visit, discrimination began when journalists based in the United Kingdom were assigned two vehicles while those based in Kenya were crammed into one.
Reportedly, Kenyan journalists were denied access to food, water, and breakfast during their visit, whereas British journalists were provided with prepared lunches.
“The Britons received preferential treatment during meal time, despite the Kenyan and UK state teams agreeing on the distribution of food equally,” Mwangi complained.
It was reported that the dissemination of the packed foods was under the jurisdiction of the United Kingdom embassy in Kenya.
Additional proof of racial discrimination was the fact that the food that Kenyan journalists were served was often remnants after their British counterparts had finished.

A Kenyan journalist was reportedly provided with expired sandwiches, unwrapped cupcake papers, and used toothpicks at one point.
An individual who covered the event for an international media outlet was interviewed by Kenyans.co.ke.
“This part is actually very hard to confirm,” he stated on the issue of being denied food and racism claims.
In particular, he informed PoliticalPulseChat that despite having a conversation with the local journalist who was purportedly the recipient of the expired sandwiches, he refrained from commenting on the subject.
Journalists selected from Kenyan media organizations disclosed to PoliticalPulseChat that they experienced discrimination during the entire event.
In recent years, the Royal Family has been accused of bigotry more than a dozen times.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle accused the royal family in March 2021 of endorsing the discriminatory treatment of Meghan by tabloids.
Additionally, during an interview with Oprah Winfrey, the couple disclosed that unidentified royals discussed the prenatal darkness of their son’s complexion.
