Foreigner Dies Inside Girlfriend’s House In Diani

On Saturday, the remains of a 64-year-old Frenchman were discovered inside the residence of his fiancรฉe in Diani, Kwale County.

As per the police report submitted under OB 15/04/11/2023, the occurrence transpired on Monday, October 23, when the Kenyan fiancรฉe of the French man departed from her dwelling in Diani to travel to her rural place of residence in Meru.

Throughout the academic year, her daughter was scheduled to visit their rural residence in her presence.

When she returned at approximately 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 4, 2023, she discovered the door locked from the inside. Through persistently knocking, she eventually obtained entry to the residence by utilizing a spare key to unlock the door.

The foul odor that greeted her upon entering the room led her to the bedroom, where she discovered the corpse of her lover in a state of decomposition.

The report indicates that the French national arrived in the country via private aircraft on September 14, 2023, with an anticipated return date of December 10, 2023.

Upon the arrival of the Tourist Police Unit affiliated with Diani Base, the residence was cordoned off as a crime scene. In addition to dusting the residence, the law enforcement officers gathered fingerprints for analysis.

Since then, inquiries have been initiated to determine the cause of mortality.

Initial inquiries indicated that the foreign national had no documented medical history of illnesses, and an examination of his body did not uncover any apparent injuries.

“The scene was visited and necessary police action taken,” read part of the police report.

The body of the foreigner was transferred to the Jocham Hospital Mortuary in Mombasa for postmortem examination.

A detective attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) cordones off an area as a crime scene in October 2021.
