Kenya Met Lists 28 Counties to Experience Storm & Heavy Rainfall for 7 Days

The Kenya Meteorological Department has compiled a list of locations that will experience significant rainfall between October 31 and November 6.

Kenya Met disclosed on Tuesday that the areas listed will also experience storms.

According to the forecast, some areas will receive up to 120mm of precipitation over the next week.

Kenya’s Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, South-Eastern Lowlands, Coast, North-Western, and Northeastern regions are listed.

Murang’a, Kirinyaga, Nyeri, Kiambu, Embu, Makueni, Meru, Tharaka Nithi, Kitui, Tana River, Kilifi, Lamu, Garissa, Wajir, and Mandera are among the counties listed.

Marsabit, Samburu, West Pokot, Trans Nzoia, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Kericho, Bungoma, Kakamega, Vihiga, Homa Bay, Kisii, and Migori are the remaining counties.

In contrast, Nairobi will receive an average of 20-50 mm of precipitation over the next week.

The counties of Turkana, Narok, Nakuru, and Kajiado will receive between 10 and 20 mm of precipitation.

Since the beginning of October, the nation has been experiencing significant precipitation, with some regions receiving even more.

“Rainfall persisted across the nation, with isolated storms in counties like Kitui, Tharaka Nithi, Embu, Isiolo, Meru, and Marsabit,” read a statement from the department.

Meru Meteorological Station recorded the greatest seven-day rainfall total of 197.6mm over the past week.

Earlier, the department issued a warning about potential El Nino precipitation across the nation. President William Ruto, however, refuted the claims and added that the country will experience average precipitation.
