A chief has committed suicide in Nandi after reportedly finding his wife in the act, in a lodging, with a police officer.

The administrator, Charles Kogei, 42, a chief for Ndurio location in the Aldai sub-county died at a private hospital in Kapsabet on Monday evening.

Nandi County criminal investigation officer Douglas Chikanda confirmed the incident.

“It is a saddening case of suicide. We have indeed lost the chief. It is a case of a love triangle involving one of my officers and the chief’s wife. Preliminary probe indicates that the incident led to chief to take his life,” Chikanda said.

The police officer is attached to the Kobujoi police station.

Nandi South OCPD Peter Mbua also confirmed the incident and said they are investigating the matter.
