Over 60,000 Police Officers Deployed Ahead Of KCPE, KPSEA Exams – Interior PS Omollo

More than 60,000 police officers have been deployed to different examination centers across the country to ensure that the KPSEA and KCPE exams, which commence on Monday, do so without any hitches.

This is according to Interior Principal Secretary Dr. Raymond Omollo, who added that security has also been beefed up in volatile North Rift areas where cases of insecurity stemming from banditry attacks have surged in recent months.

“Exams will go on in Kapindasum and Baringo; we have contained the volatility in that belt despite recent attacks,” Omollo said at St. George’s Primary School in Nairobi on Saturday.

He added that the government has set up command centers at KNEC headquarters, the Ministry of Interior and the Communications Authority of Kenya to monitor, counter, and respond to any insecurity cases that may arise during the exam period.

Police will give coordinated support on the same from the command centers.

Omollo added that an extra 82,000 containers, designated to hold the exams before they are circulated to different parts of the country, have been acquired by the state to ensure proximity between the exam centers and the distribution points.

A senior Teachers Service Commission (TSC) official added that over 223,223 supervisors and invigilators and 71,760 exam center managers have been thoroughly briefed on what is expected of them.

“They must uphold dignity in ensuring integrity to uphold. All invigilators are to desist from social media activities. TSC will not be hesitant in punishing those culpable in engaging in exam malpractices,” said the TSC representative.

His sentiments were echoed by Deputy DCI Director Kamwende Ireri who noted that persons found engaging in exam malpractice will be dealt with accordingly while mentioning the Kiambu County CRE teacher who was arrested for selling fake exam papers on Friday.ย
