EU Grants Kenya Ksh 11.4 Billion Boost

The European Union has granted Kenya more than Ksh.11.4 billion (72 million Euros) to support the green transition priority areas of environmental sustainability, digital inclusion, good governance, and peace and stability.

By an agreement signed by Vice President Rigathi Gachagua and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in Brussels, Belgium on Wednesday, the funds will be used to enhance programs in the identified important economic sectors.

The Vice President, who is representing President William Ruto at the Global Gateway Summit hosted by the EU in Brussels, praised the collaboration between Kenya and the EU, stating that the grant will assist in the development of the country and the improvement of the welfare of the people.

Mr. Gachagua stated that Kenya anticipated a continued partnership with the EU. He added that the Ruto administration was eager to strengthen existing connections with the EU.
