Ruto Reacts to Whistleblower Claims
President William Ruto has responded to a report released by a person claiming to be an Independent Electoral Commission (IEBC) whistleblower alleging that the 2022 August polls were rigged in favor of the head of state.
According to the alleged whistleblower’s report, published by The Star, Raila Odinga won the elections with a 58% to 42% victory over Ruto, as opposed to the official result of 49%-50%.
The whistleblower also claims that there was more rigging at the constituency level, as most parliamentary results favored President Ruto’s UDA party.

Charles Hornsby, an occasional contributor to Kenyan politics, questioned the report, claiming that the alleged results were manipulated from the official results in favor of Raila.
“Findings from the analysis show that the results are a mix of real results from almost all results,” Hornsby claimed in his analysis published by The Star.
“Clumsy transpositions that are so obviously false that I conclude we have another forgery on our hands. Whistleblowers in more than 20 constituencies reverse votes for Ruto and Raila in ways that make no sense “He went on to say.
“The other seats were left as reported by the IEBC, resulting in a bizarre patchwork that makes little sense.”

In response to Hornsby’s findings, President Ruto took to social media on Sunday night to chastise the alleged whistleblower, claiming that Raila could not have defeated Ruto in areas where most of Ruto’s and his deputy’s supporters reside.
“Kenya, wajinga waliisha. Raila has no chance of beating Ruto in Uasin Gishu, Nyeri, Tharaka Nithi, or Meru. Nonetheless, this is what the so-called whistleblower claims “He stated.
Since the release of the whistleblower reports, there has been political turmoil, with both the government and the opposition exchanging words.
President Ruto has maintained that nothing will prevent him from carrying out his presidential duties, whereas Raila wants the president and his deputy to step down.
