Pwani University First-Year Student Stabbed to Death 4 Days After Admission

A first-year Pwani University student who was stabbed to death in a robbery attack on Friday, October 20, struggled to breathe and fight for her life.ย

Armed robbers reportedly attacked Faith Adongo as she headed home four days after her admission at the institution based in Kilifi County.

In the incident that occurred along Misifuni Road, the robbers walked away with her phone, leaving her to bleed to death from the wounds inflicted on her neck.

However, the situation worsened, forcing the medics to transfer her to Kilifi County Hospital Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Led by their Student association leader, Nashon Okoth, Pwani University students and staff rallied together to contribute blood to save Adongo, who had bled profusely.ย

Unfortunately, the student died around 10 p.m. on Friday, October 20. Pwani lecturer, Dr Allois Luvai, confirmed to PoliticalPulseChat, that Adongo passed away after her condition deteriorated further.

He added that the school would issue a statement later on as details of her death were still scanty.

Following the incident, students at the university expressed concerns for their safety, decrying insecurity along the road where Adongo was attacked.

“Insecurity in Kenyan universities should be addressed… comrades are not losing their belongings but also life,” one comment posted on X read.ย
