ODM Expels Turkana Governor Jeremiah Napotikan Over Ruto Links
The Orange Democratic Movement has expelled Turkana Governor Jeremiah Napotikan Lomorukai over links to President William Ruto.
In a statement signed by lawyer Abdikadir Osman, the party said that the Governor has openly associated himself with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) holding that the ruling party’s ideologies do not reflect those of ODM, the party which propelled him to the top county seat.
The party condemned the Governor for his remarks during the Turkana Cultural Festival where he boldly proclaimed that he had decamped to UDA.
According to ODM, the statements by the governor were made to expose both the ODM party and its leader Raila Odinga to ridicule and embarrassment.
“His said actions and utterances amount not only to a total disregard for Article 136(2) as read with 142 of the Constitution of Kenya on presidential term limits but also blatant and arrogant violations of the Party Constitution,’ ODM stated.
The embattled governor had initially pledged to support President William Ruto’s 2027 presidential bid.
Speaking during the official opening of the Turkana Cultural and Tourism Festival in Lodwar town on October 12, the governor who was elected on the ODM party ticket, also pledged to rally six sub-counties in Turkana county to back the President in the next general election.

“I want to assure you that I will deliver the Turkana vote basket to you. There is no bargain about that. I will deliver for you the six sub-counties,” the Governor said.
“I am elected by Turkana County people. Those who are making threats that the Turkana Governor is working with the President, who told them that is a crime?” The first-term governor further posed.
Last week on Friday chaos rocked Raila’s event at the Turkana Cultural Festival after a section of Jubilee Party MCA leaders confronted him.
Raila was the chief guest at the cultural festival when a section of the attendees began to boo the county lawmakers criticizing the ODM boss.
His security whisked him to a safer area outside the venue, where he addressed the constituents.
The leaders had claimed that Odinga had neglected the community in key appointments, further faulting him on the nomination of Winnie Odinga to the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA).
