Wall Collapses on 4 Cars Next to Kitui Governor’s Office (PHOTOS)
Four vehicles were destroyed by the disintegration of a perimeter wall at an apartment complex in Kitui County, causing residents to tally their losses.
The cars, varying from Toyota to Subaru, were parked in front of the Kafel Apartment building, which is adjacent to Governor Julius Malombe’s administration building in Kitui.
Monday’s torrential downpours pummeled the county, according to reports, and caused the collapse.
All of the vehicles were severely injured by the impact of the concrete wall, as evidenced by their shattered windows, mangled bodies, and shattered rear windshields.
However, it is unknown whether property within the governor’s administration block’s compound was also damaged.
Experts believe that poor drainage around a structure or poor structural engineering are the most probable causes of wall collapses after a heavy downpour.
Water accumulates against a concrete foundation and retaining walls when drainage is inadequate. Over time, the water may accumulate to the point where lateral and hydrostatic pressure cause issues.

El Nino season is anticipated to last from October to December, and the Kenya Meteorological Department has warned of an increase in precipitation. In some regions, the impact will persist through January 2024.
In a weekly update released on Tuesday, the department listed regions that are expected to experience precipitation as well as those that have reached 30 degrees Celsius.
Between Tuesday, October 17, and Monday, October 23, the department predicts that precipitation will persist in several regions of the country.
As a consequence, some regions, including the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and North-Eastern and North-Western Kenya, will experience isolated storms during the analyzed week.
The National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) previously issued guidelines to Kenyan citizens regarding the impending El Nino.
The authority warned of the possibility of inundation in certain areas and urged Kenyans to be mindful of their surroundings.
Citizens were also warned to avoid flood- and landslide-prone areas, such as riparian land and hilltops.
