Principal Secretary for Micro, Medium, and Small Enterprises (MSMEs) Susan Mang’eni was involved in a fatal car accident on Monday.

The tragedy occurred around 3 p.m. in the Korinda region of Busia County.

According to reports, Mang’eni’s vehicle collided with a motorcycle, killing the operator instantly.

PS Mang’eni was transported to the Busia Hospital for specialized medical treatment following the accident.

In November of 2022, President William Ruto appointed Mang’eni, an expert in governance and development, to the position of PS in the Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises.

On December 1, 2022, she was sworn in alongside fifty other PSs at the State House.

“The jobs and the responsibilities you have been given are not private positions, neither are they family positions, or community positions. They are positions to serve the entirety of the people of the Republic of Kenya,” President Ruto said to the new appointees after they had taken their oath of office.

” I will expect every Principal Secretary to work diligently and to the best of their ability.”

She previously served on the Boards of the Youth Enterprise Development Fund (YEDF), Kenya Institute of Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA), and Competition Tribunal of Kenya.

The PS has also worked in the private sector, where she engaged in socioeconomic and political transformation-focused consultancies and discourses.

She has a Master of Arts in Entrepreneurship Development and a Bachelor of Science in Public Science and Public Administration.

As a member of the Working group on the Socio-Economic audit of the 2010 Kenyan Constitution, whose findings were presented to the National Assembly in 2016, Mang’eni has played a significant role in influencing government policies and programs.

At the time, she was employed by the Office of the Auditor General, where she was responsible for assessing the impact of the 2010 Kenyan Constitution on governance and public institutions.
