Gachagua’s Pledge: Ruto’s 100% Vote Share in Mt. Kenya 2027

Vice President Rigathi Gachagua has declared his intention to secure the unwavering support of the influential Mount Kenya region, which was instrumental in President William Ruto’s rise to power.

During a church service in Nandi County, where he officiated over a fundraiser at the Kapsabet ACK church, Gachagua vowed to unite the Mountain’s inhabitants behind President William Ruto.

Gachagua acknowledged his efforts in delivering 87 percent of the ballots from Mount Kenya to President Ruto in the most recent elections.

“I am looking for the 13% which I lost to give William Ruto 100% of votes in the 2027 General Elections,” Gachagua stated.

He emphasized that President Ruto’s path to victory, as well as his own path to victory in 2022, is contingent upon a united front from Mount Kenya.

Gachagua exhorted the residents of the region to support the Kenya Kwanza administration and disregard any voices of opposition.

“Now, why are people making out a problem when I say this? He (Ruto) is looking for votes from people of Azimio affiliation who were forced into joining the political party through harassment. I want to bring everybody on board behind President William Ruto,” he added.

President William Ruto recently stated during a visit to Homabay County that Raila Odinga, the leader of the Azimio la Umoja coalition, owed him a political debt. Gachagua’s remarks followed Ruto’s statements.

Ruto has previously reaffirmed his support for Odinga, anticipating similar support in the general elections of 2027.

President Ruto, in contrast to Deputy Rigathi Gachagua, emphasized his commitment to a united nation by declaring that Kenya should not resemble a shareholders’ company.

He condemned political affiliation-based discrimination and urged Kenyans not to be swayed by divisive rhetoric.

Instead, he highlighted the government’s mission to deliver development to every region of the nation.
