DP Rigathi Gachagua Refutes Claims of Fallout With Ruto

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Sunday refuted claims of a fallout with President William Ruto precipitated by the recent cabinet reshuffle and a statement in which the Head of State rebuked the second in command for his infamous ‘shareholders’ jibe.

Speaking during a church service in Nandi County, the DP Gachagua dismissed the reports of a fallout between himself and President Ruto, reiterating the stance the country is in capable hands and being steered by individuals working in harmony.

โ€œOur government led by William Ruto is steady and very stable, there is no problem and there will be none.

The President and I are not foolish, we are great friends and even if you hear us talking differently, it is still the same thing,โ€ Gachagua clarified.

The DP further vowed to support the President in the next general elections, adding that he will rally Mt Kenya residents to vote for President William Ruto to the last man.

โ€œI want to tell these people (opposition), straight in the face, please don’t waste your time, there will be no division in this government, President William Ruto and I talk the same language, we consult, we agree and we move on and the President is taking us in the right direction,โ€ Gachagua said.

Despite criticism over his shareholder’s stance, the Deputy President categorically maintained he remains unapologetic in demanding more resources and development for regions that voted overwhelmingly for President Ruto.

โ€œI am unapologetic and demand those who believed in William Ruto and supported him to a man have every right to benefit immensely from his government, and if that can bring a problem so be itโ€

The DP also took a swipe at the media specifically The Standard Group accusing the media stable of targeting the government through what he described as unfair coverage.

Gachagua accused the media of still being in denial over the 2022 general election results.

“They are still looking for a way how this government can have a problem, they are using a microscope to try and get a problem,” Gachagua said.

The Deputy President also dismissed claims that the Kenya Kwanza government has failed to tackle the challenges Kenyans are facing.

“I want to bring everybody on board behind President William Ruto, when they hear that I want to unite the Mt Kenya region they blame me for not wanting to call for a handshake.”
