Miguna’s Lawsuit Against Ex-CS Matiang’i for Deportation
Miguna Miguna has filed a lawsuit against Fred Matiang’i, the former interior minister, for alleged maltreatment and forcible deportation in 2018.
The attorney stated in a statement that his legal representative had served court documents at the former CS’s residence.
“Today, my Process Server delivered Court Summons and Pleadings in HCCC 163 of 2019 to Fred Okeng’o MATIANG’I at his mansion in KCB Karen Ngong Estate,” Miguna disclosed.
Former Interior CS and others implicated in his mistreatment must be held accountable for their actions, he insisted.
“Matiang’i and other defendants must answer for torture, abuse of power, malicious prosecution, forced exile, and many other crimes. Justice shall prevail no matter how long it takes,” he declared.
Additionally, Miguna disclosed that President William Ruto had apologized to him personally earlier this year for his deportation.
He asserted, however, that President Ruto has not yet fulfilled his promise to subject the responsible parties to justice.
“In January, President William Ruto apologized to me over barbaric torture, forced exile, and horrendous treatment the government that he served as DP subjected me to. He promised to have all the cases relating to those abuses resolved. 12 months later, I’m still waiting,” Miguna remarked.
Miguna was forcibly expelled from Kenya in February 2018, as he is not a citizen of Kenya.

This expulsion occurred after he performed a simulated inauguration of opposition leader Raila Odinga as ‘people’s president’ on January 30, shortly after former President Uhuru Kenyatta took office.
Consequently, authorities executed a home invasion and arrested him.
Miguna claims that he was mistreated and detained under inhumane conditions for the next five days.
The high court subsequently ordered his immediate release on parole, which was not carried out. The next day, he was instead summarily expelled from the country.
In March of 2018, he returned to Kenya, but faced a second deportation, this time to Canada.
Miguna said at the time, “I was dragged, assaulted, drugged, and forcibly flown to Dubai.” “I awoke in Dubai, where despots are demanding that I continue my journey to London.”
Five years after his exile, the attorney was officially permitted back into the country in October 2022.
“I extend my gratitude to all Kenyans who have stood with me, who stood with the bill of rights in the Constitution, the cost of justice, the dictates of democracy, and the rule of law. I would like to extend my gratitude to the judiciary, who stood firm on the side of the rule of law,” he stated at the time.
