Carole Baskin’s ‘dead’ husband is still alive and well, and we know where he is – but no one noticed.
Carole’s first husband, Don Lewis, went missing during Tiger King, but she confirmed last year that he is reportedly alive in Costa Rica.
Carole Baskin of Tiger King revealed her ‘dead’ ex-husband Don Lewis is allegedly ‘alive and well’ – and no one noticed until now.
Lewis left his Florida home at 6 a.m. in the summer of 1997 for an early morning delivery and was never seen again, being declared legally dead five years later.

The mystery of Don’s disappearance was central to the popular Tiger King Netflix documentary, with many viewers believing it was part of a massive conspiracy and a variety of theories being floated.
Carole’s nemesis, Joe Exotic, is currently serving a 22-year prison sentence after being convicted of hiring someone to murder her, claiming she murdered her ex-husband, and even releasing a viral song about her feeding him to her tigers.
There is no evidence that Lewis was murdered, no arrests or charges have been filed, and Big Cat Rescue boss Carole has never been named as a suspect and has always denied any involvement in his disappearance.
Don’s disappearance appeared to be one of life’s great mysteries until Carole claimed on an episode of ITV’s This Morning that she had proof he was still alive.
Carole told Phillip Schofield and Josie Gibson in November of last year that she had been told Don was alive and well in Costa Rica.
She told the panelists: “I’ll tell you what, one of the most exciting things that came out of Tiger King 2 was the production of a letter from Homeland Security stating that a special agent in charge with the FBI contacted the Sheriff’s Detective.

“This had to have happened after 2002 because Homeland Security didn’t exist until 2002, and they said my husband Don Lewis is still alive and well in Costa Rica.
“And yet, all of this vitriol has been directed at me for having anything to do with his appearance when Homeland Security has known where he is since at least that time,” Carole continued.
In response to one of the bizarre theories, Phillip stated, “His children from his first marriage believe you murdered him, minced him up, and fed him to the tigers!”
Carole responded quickly, “I think they should check with Homeland Security, who seems to know where he is.”
When Phillip asked Carole if she believes Don is alive, she replied, “I’m not sure how Homeland Security says he’s alive and well in Costa Rica, but I’m glad to hear it.”
Lewis, who went missing in 1997 at the age of 59, would be 84 years old if he is still alive today.
He has made no public statements to refute any of the rumors.

Baskin and her current husband Howard wrote a blog on her Big Cats Rescue website in November last year, questioning why DHS released his alleged whereabouts to Netflix for season 2.
Carole decided not to participate in the second season, owing to the heavy emphasis on Don’s disappearance and feeling “so misled” after the first series’ release.
“Also noteworthy is the document they display from Homeland Security, which was not formed as an agency until 2002, five years after Don Lewis’ disappearance, claiming to have information that Don Lewis was alive and well in Costa Rica,” they wrote at the time.
“How come this is only now appearing?”
Carole met Lewis in 1981 when he was already married, and they had an affair before marrying in 1991.
Lewis, she claimed, was obsessed with sex and would fly to Costa Rica for extramarital affairs, especially when she was menstruating.
Lewis began transferring ownership of his Florida properties to a Costa Rican company he controlled in early 1997, and in the days preceding his disappearance, he had purchased a plane ticket to Costa Rica and was loading equipment onto a truck he planned to drive to Miami.
Carole claimed Lewis’ mental health had deteriorated to the point where he was rummaging through dumpsters and hoarding vehicles and junk.

She claimed he was losing his short-term memory and became disoriented at times, and she suspected he was developing Alzheimer’s disease – through Lewis’s former personal attorney and a former business associate both denied this.
Lewis filed a restraining order request against his wife in July 1997, claiming she had threatened to kill him and had hidden his gun to prevent him from protecting himself, but the request was denied.
Carole claims he filed the restraining order because she would remove some of his junk property whenever he visited Costa Rica.
