Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o, the governor of Kisumu, has been appointed as a UN advisor on local governments.

The second-term governor announced the new position in a statement on Thursday, promising to serve assiduously.

The governor was appointed by UN Secretary-General António Guterres and will advise the SG on engagement and action issues involving local and regional administrations.
