    Ruto Appoints Phyllis Kandie Former Uhuru Trade CS as Economic Advisor

    Former Cabinet Secretary of Trade and Tourism during the administration of Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta, Phyllis Kandie, has been appointed Advisor at State House.

    On Tuesday, September 19, while savoring her appointment, Kandie disclosed that she had been offered the position of Advisor on Commodities Market Development.

    She mentioned that she will serve on the Presidential Council of Economic Advisors, which is led by the economist David Ndii.

    “I would like to thank the President for the honor he has bestowed on me to serve as his advisor, Commodities Market Development,” Kandie stated.

    Kandie stated that she will serve to the best of her ability while collaborating closely with her colleagues to provide President William Ruto with improved advice, particularly regarding regulatory policies.

    “I undertake to work diligently with all stakeholders to ensure that his vision to streamline the Agriculture sector by setting up a licensed, Regulated private sector led National Commodities Exchange that shall link the Farmer to both the domestic and international markets becomes a reality,” Kandie stated.

    In her position, Kandie will provide the President with expert advice and counsel on all matters about the development of the commodities market.

    This includes advising on policies and regulations that promote the development and efficiency of the market, as well as risk mitigation and market stability.

    As a former Cabinet Secretary for the East Africa Community Affairs, Kandie has a comprehensive comprehension of the commodities market as well as government and private sector experience.

    Kandie will be tasked within the Presidential Council of Economic Advisors with keeping apprised of the most recent market trends and developments, as well as identifying and analyzing potential risks and opportunities.

    She is expected to promote fair and open commerce and ensure that Kenyan companies have access to the resources necessary to compete in the global market.

    As Cabinet Secretary for East Africa Community Affairs, Kandie initiated plans to increase trade between EAC member nations.
