We’ll crush them! CS Kindiki declares war on al Shabaab

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has vowed that the Kenya Kwanza government will not bend over its stand to fight al Shabaab.

On Monday, the CS said that the government is determined to restore peace in the North Eastern region by dealing with the terrorist group.

โ€œThat is our biggest enemy right now. They have caused havoc in their country and are bringing that into Kenya. We have declared war on al-Shabaab. They might think they will outsmart us but we will crush them like we did cattle rustlers,” Kindiki vowed.

Kindiki pledged that the government will equip security officers with modern equipment to protect them against armed criminals and enable them to protect Kenyans and their property.

He called upon Kenyans to work with the security officers and resist attempts by terror groups to radicalize the youth into violent extremism.

โ€œTerrorism remains a key national security concern and the Government will triumph over terror. Parents must remain vigilant and counsel their children to resist radicalization or recruitment into terror groups,โ€ Kindiki added.

He was speaking in Wajir county where he presided over the operationalization of Kotulo Sub-County, Tarbaj Constituency.

CS Kindiki’s remarks came after two militants of the al Shabaab terror group were last Saturday killed in a shooting by military troops in the Bodhei area, Lamu County.

The security team said they recovered three AK47 rifles, more than 300 bullets, RPG launchers, and warheads.

Multi-agency teams are involved in major operations in areas near the Kenya-Somalia border amid sporadic attacks.

The attacks have left dozens of people dead including security agents. Others are nursing wounds.

Officials said they have thwarted dozens of planned attacks by the terrorists killing some of them and recovering materials.
