Arrogance By CSs Comes From What They See Ruto And Gachagua Doing – Billow Kerrow

Former Mandera Senator Billow Kerrow has opined that the condescending tone leaders in government have been exhibiting is a character they have adopted from President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua.

This lies on the backdrop of a section of leaders making arrogant statements to the public amid uproar on the recent spike of fuel prices in the nation.

According to the ex-Senator, the leaders are trailing behind the footsteps of the president and his deputy, who have similarly been expressing arrogant sentiments in public over the past year they have been in office.

Speaking on Citizen TV’s Daybreak show on Monday, Kerrow said that leaders must cease disregarding the Kenyan electorate lest the economy keeps on sinking as investors will move camps to other jurisdictions.

“It has become the language of this government starting from the President, the Deputy President, and like father like son they say so what the CSs are doing is what they see their bosses doing,” he said.

“That contemptuous attitude we have seen starting from the President going out there in public rallies calling investors cartels by name and profiling individuals. That attitude has gone down into the rank of the leadership of Kenya Kwanza.”

In what he termed as the “know it all attitude”, Kerrow stated that the government should adopt ways of cushioning Kenyans against the global economic surge, including introducing subsidies that they so much vowed to abolish.

“All over the world people use subsidies, it is not a crime. Where did the government get this feeling that providing subsidies is a crime? The whole of Europe is spending hundreds of billions to reduce the price of energy so that the people can survive,” said Kerrow.

Trade Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria and President William Ruto’s top economic advisor David Ndii have recently been engaging Kenyans questioning the government’s decision to increase fuel prices.

CS Kuria was captured on video during an address on Saturday telling Kenyans to dig their own wells if they are dissatisfied with the fuel hikes.

“If you keep saying fuel prices have hiked from morning to evening…. why not dig your own well? The whole world knows crude oil prices have hiked, if those noisy people have their well, I am ready to dig it so that fuel prices reduce,” Kuria said.

On the other hand, David Ndii maintained that he does not subscribe to the government’s views and he will not tame his tongue to fit certain parameters.

“I don’t believe politicians, and I don’t trust government. If you do either you are a sucker,” said Ndii on X.

“I don’t agree. I do not subscribe to sentimentality in the conduct of public affairs. I, owe my position in this society to speaking truth to power, brutally. I ruffle feathers.”

The sentiments attracted censure from DP Gachagua who urged leaders to exercise caution while addressing Kenyans.

He was however rebutted by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, who like Billow Kerrow, accused Gachagua of leading by example in talking down to Kenyans.

“Maybe you sit this one out. There is literally no one in the regime that comes close to you in terms of contempt for the people. You of the “shareholders” fame? No Sir. Sit down. You make Moses Kuria and Ndii sound like page boys in comparison. They are at best, your students,” Sifuna said.
