Khalwale Urges Ruto: Sack Kuria, Chirchir & Economic Advisors

Senator Boni Khalwale of Kakamega is now demanding that President William Ruto fire his two Cabinet Secretaries and Economic Advisors due to the soaring price of petroleum.

Speaking in Kakamega on Saturday, Khalwale said it is time for Ruto to dismiss Trade CS Moses Kuria, his Energy counterpart Davis Chirchir, and his economic advisors. Members of the Presidential Council of Economic Advisors are David Ndii, Mohammed Hassan, and Nancy Laibuni.

Khalwale blamed the parties for the recent increase in fuel prices in Nairobi to a record high of Ksh211.64 per liter for Super Petrol, Ksh.201 per liter for Diesel, and Ksh202.13 per liter for Kerosene.

The senator stated that he was elected to represent the people, so he expects the cabinet secretaries and economic advisors to safeguard Kenyan citizens from any adverse economic conditions.

” I want to tell you that the people you have given jobs have put you in deep trouble. The minister for trade, and energy and your economic advisors must tell Kenyans what they meanโ€ฆ Sack these people so that the fuel prices come down,” Khalwale said.

Among those who have discounted criticism from Kenyans is CS Kuria himself, who said that the fuel hike is a global issue, not only affecting Kenya.

“Global Crude Prices are on an upward trajectory. For planning purposes expect pump prices to go up by Ksh 10 every month till February,” Kuria posted on his X account.

Energy CS Chirchir stated before the National Assembly’s Energy Committee on Friday that the government does not influence the fuel price increase because it is a global problem.

โ€œWe are dealing with several governments and the suppliers of these products. We are likely to be going through even harder times. There is nothing much we can do about it. It is just unfortunate that we do not have our own products,โ€ Chirchir told MPs.
