Migori: Police Gun Down Pastor Planning to Rob Businesses

In Migori County, police officers shot and killed a local minister who was pursuing a gang of robbers.

In a statement released on Friday, police officers disclosed that the pastor was a member of a nine-member gang that terrorized residents of Migori County.

According to the report, the gang intended to attack local businesses in the town of Migori when police officers laid an ambush, resulting in the deaths of three suspects.

“In collaboration with the Criminal Investigation officers at the police headquarters, the three suspected thugs were killed after a fierce exchange of fire.

“The officers also arrested three others in the ongoing crackdown on criminal gangs,” the police statement read in parts.

During the operation commanded by Migori County Police Commander Peter Kimani, an AK-47 rifle, ammunition, and other items were recovered.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations, according to the police, utilized technology to identify, trace, and apprehend the suspect.

According to reports, the bodies recovered from the crime scene were transported to the Migori Mortuary, where they will endure an autopsy before being laid to rest in their homes.

As the police continue their assault on criminals in the larger South Nyanza region, the arrested suspects are scheduled to appear in court on Friday morning.

In the meantime, officers have launched a manhunt for three suspects who evaded capture.

The National Police Service has asked members of the public to file reports of any suspicious activities to control run-away crime in the area.ย
