Kenyan Woman Arrested in India With Cocaine Worth Ksh211 Million

A Kenyan woman was apprehended at the Bengaluru airport in India on September 10 for attempting to smuggle Ksh211 million worth of cocaine into the country.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) of India apprehended the Kenyan with 1.02 kg of cocaine.

According to the CISF, she concealed the narcotics in capsule form within her underwear.

According to the records, she flew in from Addis Ababa and landed in India at 11:09 a.m.

Laxmi Meena’s suspicions were aroused by a routine airport security check, compelling her to examine the Kenyan woman and her belongings more closely.

“The cop conducted a pat down search, took her to a separate room, and asked her to remove her clothes. Many capsules were found in her undergarment. One of the capsules was open and we realized that she was carrying high-quality cocaine,” a source said to the India Times.

The Kenyan was then transported to a medical facility where a thorough examination revealed several capsules containing cocaine.

The Kenyan woman was interrogated and forced to confess that she had consumed additional capsules.

It was at that point that, security personnel hurried her to Victoria Hospital for treatment to prevent the possibility of the capsules rupturing while still in her body. According to her confession, the visit to the medical facility was also motivated by the need to determine if she had additional narcotics in her system.

Before the publication of this article, it was uncertain how many capsules had been recovered from Angola.

According to reports, however, the narcotics she was peddling were of the highest quality.

“The cocaine is of extremely superior quality and has a market value of nearly Rs 12 crore (Ksh211 million),” said a source familiar with such drugs. “The seized substance has been handed over to the NCB,” he added.

Currently, she has been charged under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act by India’s Narcotics Control Bureau.

Under investigation is whether she acted alone or as part of a large criminal organization.

In the past few months, the number of Kenyans implicated in drug smuggling has increased.

Three Kenyan women were detained in Thailand last week for attempting to smuggle drugs into the country.

Following an ultrasound examination, it was determined that the three had ingested multiple satchels.
