DCI’s Manhunt: Teacher Abducts 9-Year-Old Pupil

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) launched a manhunt on Sunday for abductors suspected of seizing a third-grade student from a school in Donholm, Nairobi County, who was 9 years old.

In a statement released on Sunday, the agency disclosed that the suspects are instructors from the school who are suspected of kidnapping the student on an unspecified date in the evening after classes.

In the statement, the DCI disclosed that the student’s father arrived at school to collect his son, only to discover that he was missing.

Upon making inquiries, the father was told that his son had been seen leaving with his class instructor which prompted him to begin an immediate piece for his child.

According to the DCI’s statement, the father received a call from the hijackers who demanded Ksh10 million in ransom.

“A team of detectives drawn from the Nairobi Region Command in collaboration with colleagues from DCI Buruburu launched a thorough operation in the Kayole Sabasaba area, leading to the rescue of the minor who had been locked in a room believed to have been rented by another teacher, who works in the same school with the main suspect,” the statement read.

Following the successful operation, the police immediately rescued the child and hurried him to the hospital for a complete examination.

The law enforcement team continued their investigation and arrested a suspect in connection with the kidnapping.

This apprehension occurred as the suspect was demanding a ransom for the child’s release.

During their search, the police also recovered a motorcycle and a mobile phone believed to have been used in the kidnapping of the 9-year-old child.

The items were brought into custody by the police and will serve as crucial evidence in the ongoing investigation.
