    Violence Erupts in Raila Event

11 individuals, including Former Suna West MP Joseph Ndiege, were hospitalized following protests that erupted during a gathering organized by Azimio’s Raila Odinga and accompanied by ODM delegates in Migori County.

The disorder began when adolescents armed with machetes demanded that all vehicles be searched before entering the Maranatha Church grounds, where the meeting was to be held.

The youth denied access to Ndiege’s two vehicles, a Toyota Landcruiser V8 and a Toyota Probox, and bombarded them with stones.

According to photographs viewed by PoliticalPulseChat, the legislator’s windows were shattered when juveniles targeted him and his supporters, causing them to flee the venue.

The injured were transported to Ojele Memorial Hospital in Migori.

Moments after Raila’s arrival, supporters of Azimio gathered around his vehicles to restore order.

Migori Governor Ochilo Ayacko, DAP-K party leader Eugene Wamalwa, former Muranga governor Mwangi wa Iria, Migori County Senator Eddy Gicheru Oketch, Migori County Representative Fatuma Mohamed, Nyatike MP Tom Mboya Odege, and Awendo Constituency MP Walter Owino were in attendance at the meeting.

Raila stated during his address at the meeting that those elected on an ODM party ticket must adhere to the party’s Constitution or resign and seek re-election.

He also defended the decision to kick out five Members of Parliament, saying that the party is effective when its members are united and disciplined.

Elisha Odhiambo (Gem), Gideon Ochanda (Bondo), Phelix Odiwuor also known as ‘Jalang’o’ (Lang’ata), Caroli Omondi (Suba South), and Senator Tom Ojienda of Kisumu were expelled.

โ€œODM must be strong as a political party, it can be strong when there Is discipline but it cannot progress when there are cases of indiscipline,โ€ Raila said.

โ€œWe want to see unity, you canโ€™t move to another party claiming that you are looking for development. There are structures the leaders can use to develop. We don’t want betrayal. That’s why we took action against those not loyal to the party. If you think you are ballsy enough, just come back to the ground.”
