Bhang Worth Ksh.9.5 Million Nabbed After Self-Involved Accident In Kilifi

Police in Kilifi launched a manhunt on Monday for the occupants of a black Land Cruiser Prado TX involved in an accident from which they seized 316kg of marijuana with an estimated street value of Ksh9.5 million.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) stated in a statement that the Prado was purportedly traveling at a high rate of speed along the Kaloleni-Mavueni Road before it ran off the road and into a ditch.

According to the agency, a punctured tire caused the accident.

Seven gunny sacks containing bhang were discovered by police officers at the accident scene.

Officers discovered and seized multiple license plates during a search of the vehicle, one of which resembled those used on parastatal vehicles.ย

Before the police’s arrival, the occupants escaped the scene swiftly.

Detectives have therefore initiated a manhunt.

The police have impounded the Land Cruiser Prado, which will be displayed as an exhibit.

The confiscation on Monday occurs in the context of an intensified assault on drug abuse, narcotics trafficking, and the sale and consumption of illicit alcoholic beverages in the country.

On Thursday, August 31, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) apprehended four Tanzanians and one Kenyan at a refuge in Kitengela, Kajiado County, on suspicion of drug trafficking ties.

The DCI stated in a statement that the foreigners had concealed narcotics suspected to be cocaine to avoid detection.

In addition, according to the detectives, the suspects concealed the narcotic pellets within empty fruit juice packages.
