Billionaire Rai Kidnapping: Daylight Abduction Sparks Concerns (VIDEO)
A portion of Kenyans have expressed concern over the daylight kidnapping of billionaire Jaswant Singh Rai, proprietor of Kabras Sugar.
Saturday, August 26th, CCTV footage showed a driver believed to be Rai being removed from an SUV in Kilimani, Nairobi.
The shocking incident occurred at a busy traffic light intersection, where Rai had briefly halted while waiting for the go signal.
A vehicle maneuvered through traffic and around other vehicles to intercept its intended target, a billionaire who was caught off guard.
A heated exchange ensued between the victim and the assailant after two men clad in black alighted from their vehicle and attacked the victim.
However, Rai was overpowered and pulled into a pickup truck that fled, leaving his SUV abandoned amid the highway.
Boniface Mwangi, an activist, was one of the first concerned individuals to post the CCTV footage online. Mwangi, a professional photojournalist, added that a report of a missing person had been lodged at the Kilimani Police Station.
Eric Theuri, president of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), claimed that Rai was abducted by individuals believed to be police officers along Wood Avenue in Kilimani, Nairobi.

“His location remains uncertain. “Per OB No. 21/26/08/2023, the family has reported a missing person,” the LSK president replied.
LSK is now demanding the billionaire’s immediate safe return and an explanation from Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome regarding the incident.
A portion of Kenyans questioned how such an incident could occur in broad daylight without the intervention of the public.
Ekuru Aukot, a former presidential candidate and practicing attorney, disagreed with the narrative of many Kenyans who accuse security personnel of laxity.
“As the president of the LSK (Eric Theuri), I have my doubts about this account. Jaswant is a man with many connections. “His political associates are influential,” he told Theuri.
The Interior Ministry has not yet stated the alleged abduction of Rai.
