Murkomen, Kabando Clash Over KAA Boss Firing

Former Mukurweini Member of Parliament Kabando wa Kabando and Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen are engaged in a verbal battle over the dismissal of Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) Managing Director Alex Gitari.

Jomo Kenyatta International Airport operations were suspended due to a lack of a backup power source after a nationwide power outage on Friday night. Gitari’s contract was terminated as a result.

CS Murkomen, who expressed astonishment and dismay and apologized to Kenyans, swiftly terminated Gitari’s and the engineering manager’s contracts on the grounds of incompetence.

This is where he and Kabando disagree, with Kabando claiming that President William Ruto’s administration was hell-bent on firing Gitari.

Kabando asserted that ‘Ruto’s men,’ who are responsible for the chaos, have not been attacked, insinuating that the president is tribal.

“It was already documented that Ruto’s UDA desired to expose KAA MD Alex Gitari. The reason for his dismissal arrived last night. Rais will not dismiss his soldiers, CS Murkomen and CS Chirchir. Holy bovine pouring whisky at KPLC and KAA. We need Ruto to flourish, but he’s tribal, incompetent, and disorganized,” fumed Kabando.

These sentiments prompted a response from CS Murkomen, who asserted that the former lawmaker is preoccupied with the’mtu wetu’ syndrome.
Murkomen then dared Kabando to apply for the position of MD, and if he was successful, he would appoint him.

“You are experiencing acute mtu yetu syndrome in situations where it is entirely unnecessary. I will deal with all state departments and agencies under me professionally, and I do not care about your community; I am focused on achieving results. The end!” Murkomen retaliated.

The outage, which left the nation in the dark for more than 12 hours, is believed to have been caused by a disruption at one of the country’s primary power-generating stations.

Kenya Power stated that this affected other lines, resulting in the outage.
