From Kenya Power to Airport Authority: Henry Ogoye’s New Role

Henry Ogoye was appointed as the new interim Managing Director of the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) on Saturday, August 26, after the contract of former boss Alex Gitari was terminated by Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen.

Murkomen announced the modifications following a visit to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), which encountered a power outage on Friday evening.

Ogoye, who previously worked as technical staff at Kenya Power and as Head of Corporate Planning and Strategy at KAA, will now oversee the administration of airports across the nation.

Prior to his appointment as interim CEO, Ogoye held the position of head of corporate planning and strategy at KAA.

Okoye joined KAA in 2006, according to his profile published by the International Quality & Productivity Centre (IQPC) Middle East. IQPC is an international business website that profiles entrepreneurs and technology professionals.

In his role as director of Cooperate planning, the acting MD was responsible for coordinating the organization’s strategic planning, which assisted the KAA’s management in making crucial operational decisions.

He was also tasked with monitoring traffic data and conducting business research.

“In 2005, he executed an effective initial public offering for the company. Before joining KenGen, Ogoye taught in the Economics Department at Egerton University, according to a portion of his profile.

    Educational History

Ogoye is an expert in Strategic Planning, having graduated from Egerton University in Nakuru with degrees in Mathematics and Economics in 1992.

In addition, he possesses two master’s degrees from the University of Nairobi, where he earned an MBA in Finance and an MA in Economics.
