Kirinyaga Rep Njeri Maina Reports Harrowing Encounter to DCI
Kirinyaga Woman Representative Njeri Maina has taken a significant step in her pursuit of justice by recording a statement with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations in which she describes her terrifying encounter with alleged hired thugs.
Maina, a politician elected on the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) platform, arrived at the DCI offices in Kerugoya accompanied by her legal counsel.
As part of her entourage, her assistants propelled her in a wheelchair after she was transferred from Nairobi Hospital to Kerugoya Level V Hospital on Tuesday of this week.
According to reports, Maina, one of the youngest members of parliament in the country, sought to file charges against Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, whom she accused of employing the thugs who attacked her at a political rally on Tuesday of this week.
Some Kirinyaga residents learned of the presence of the 28-year-old and raced to the DCI offices to offer their support.
The majority of the locals were women, and they were heard chanting melodies and demanding justice for the alleged atrocities committed against their leader.

The police were dispatched to the DCI offices in Kerugoya to control the surge of supporters to maintain traffic flow along the highway.
Njeri was still recording her statement at the DCI offices at the time this article was published.
Tuesday, her communications team informed GossipA2Z.com that Njeri was confronted by thugs as she interacted with her supporters in Kerugoya.
The member of parliament sustained critical head injuries, prompting medical emergency services to evacuate her to Nairobi, where she was treated.
“Yes, Mahesh was evacuated after the Governor (Kirinyaga chief boss Anne Waiguru) sent goons to attack her, but they failed,” the communications officer asserted.
Njeri was visited by her colleagues, including Moses Wetangula, Speaker of the National Assembly, Josses Lelmengit, Member of Parliament for Emgwen, Woman Representatives Linet Chepkorir Toto (Bomet) and Esther Passaris (Nairobi), and Eric Muchina, Kerugoya Ward MCA.
Other legislators demanded the detention of Waiguru, who had not yet responded to the allegations made against her.
“Mister Speaker. We must condemn all forms of violence. Violence is violence, regardless of where it occurs: Kondel or Kirinyag. This atrocity committed against one of our own by the county governor of Kirinyaga or her emissaries must be investigated immediately, said Opiyo Wandayi, Minority Leader of the National Assembly and Member of Parliament for Ugunja, while addressing the House on Tuesday.
