2 Caught Bribing Officers Ksh50,000 in Cash Inside DCI Headquarters
A suspect and their accomplice were apprehended on Monday, August 5, for attempting to bribe Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers within their headquarters.
According to a statement from the DCI, the pair was caught in the act of trying to offer a bribe to the officers to secure the release of human trafficking victims currently detained at Isinya Police Station in Kajiado County.
The incident occurred at the DCI headquarters in Nairobi, where the suspects arrived with Ksh50,000 in cash.
Their goal was to bribe officers from the Transnational Organized Crime Unit to release the victims held in custody.
Following their arrest, the suspects were taken to Muthaiga Police Station for further interrogation, and the money was confiscated as evidence.
The DCI suspects that the individuals are linked to a well-organized human trafficking network operating in Kajiado County.
The suspects remain in custody and await arraignment in court on charges of attempted bribery.

In a separate development, detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) arrested a police officer earlier in the week on accusations of soliciting a Ksh100,000 bribe.
The officer, identified as the OCS, was alleged to have demanded the bribe to facilitate the release of the complainants’ motor vehicle.
“The OCS was apprehended after the complainants, a man, and his wife, made a telephone call to EACC for help when the bribe demand persisted with the OCS threatening to put them in cells for insisting on the release of their car without the demanded amount,” EACC said.
“Upon arrest, the OCS was escorted to EACC Central Regional Office in Nyeri where she was processed and later released on cash bail.”
Late last year, two renowned serial land fraudsters believed to be part of a dreaded well-organized land-grabbing cartel that operated in Nairobi were arrested trying to bribe DCI officers.
The two, who targeted white elderly people, were arrested at the DCI’s Mazingira Complex premises.
